Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones: Sobriety is a Unique Experience

Rock Legend Reflects on a Life Free from Substances

According to Keith Richards, the legendary guitarist of the Rolling Stones, living a clean, substance-free life is a unique experience.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, the Rolling Stones guitarist expressed his efforts to enjoy a life free from narcotics and cigarettes. “I’m trying to enjoy being clean,” said Richards, who has abandoned drugs and cigarettes.

“I quit smoking in 2019,” explained Richards. “I haven’t touched a cigarette since then. I gave up heroin in 1978. I quit cocaine in 2006,” he added.

“I still enjoy an occasional drink – because I’m not planning on going to heaven anytime soon – but apart from that, I’m trying to savor being clean. It’s a unique experience for me,” he remarked.

The 79-year-old drummer of the legendary rock band also spoke about the process of growing older, saying, “I’m blessed, perhaps. So far, I haven’t had any real problems with aging. There are some dreadful things you might see in the future, but you have to get there.”

Earlier this month, the Rolling Stones announced details of their upcoming 24th album, “Hackney Diamonds.”

The album is set to be released on October 20th and will feature collaborations with Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Lady Gaga.
